I use crisco.

I don't measure. I know that's horrible. I think this is about two cups of flour.

Add about this much twice of shortening (again, I'm sorry for the lack of measurements). I'd say about 2 tbsps total. You will cut this into your flour with a fork until there are no more big lumps.

Add buttermilk to the flour and shortening. This is to dry.

This is just right.

Throw dough onto prepared floured surface and coat with flour so you can work with it without it sticking to you.

Roll into a ball and start folding the dough over in opposite directions.

Don't fold and knead to much because you will have hard biscuits. This is something you will just have to learn with trial and error. You want the dough to be manageable but still soft and loose.

Create a long roll/sub like shape.

Break off small pieces and roll into a ball.

Press rolled dough into greased baking sheet.

Continue until you finish your dough. It should make about a dozen.

Butter the top of your biscuits and then place in the oven on 400 for about 25 to 30 mins. Just watch them. If the bottom cooks faster then maybe turn it on broil to brown the top.

Golden and yummy.
